I'm trying to do a middle ground while I'm continuing to learn. Either DJ yourself live, or use Automix and let the computer get on with it. It seems to me that you're trying to use Automix at the same time as DJing yourself. The idea is to let the computer do the work. Posted Sun 19 Jun 16 11:55 Automix does what the name implies. It kinda feels like the whole point of it. If I'm using a two deck mode, I should have a bit more control over the mix than single deck mode. It puts music control in our hands, helps newer DJs transition to a higher level, and it makes sense. especially those who want to strictly use automix. So, as a halfway measure while I am practicing and improving, I thought this would be a great feature for myself and many other DJs using this software. However, I can't do that yet at live gigs without sounding horrible and unprofessional. I've been automixing for years and am trying to up my game and improve. In addition, it would be nice to start the transition when I choose from wherever the current song is. Use my headphones, spin the jog wheel to find the point I want to start at, and wait. Or, Use my controller and the existing waveforms. on a laptop screen, and try to have it done before the current song finishes. Open the editor, resize the window, resize the waveform, zoom in, try to find the mix point with a touchpad. Using the automix editor or the POI editor requires me to operate in software and away from the controls at my fingertips. I'm sorry, but that response seems dismissive. To do a manual mix, the easiest would be to disable automix, mix however you like and then re-enable automix. To change the start point, similar as you would do in v7, you can edit the automix points in the POI editor. Note that the automix editor saves mix-points for a pair of songs, so your custom start point will only be used when that song is played after that specific previous song. Adding insult to injury, it starts at the beginning instead of where I had set the cue. Automix decides that I'm stupid, mixes the next song it had, throws the crossfader back over, and transitions to the beginning! of the next track. I press play and cut the crossfader to the new song. If I decide to do a cut to the next song, automix wrecks it. In VDJ7, you could slide the little marker in the waveform. Sometimes I like to pick a good spot to start the next song. ![]() In addition, it would be nice to have the option of pushing play on the new song to initiate the crossfade. If I have a controller, I should be able to set the entry point of the incoming song. My request is for a way to accomplish what I said above. However, when your screen and keyboard are 1ft in front of your controller, it's difficult to use. Seems the only solution is to use the automix editor. Automix starts at the beginning of the new song again. So, I repeat the process except that this time, I press the cue button. ![]() Automix starts at the beginning of the new song anyway. I use my jog wheel and headphones to set the incoming tracks start point. ![]() I enabled automix, both songs show up in the decks. So, I just started using a controller and thought it would be easy using dual-deck automix to set the start point of my next song. ![]() All these features make it one of the best Visio alternatives for macOS users. When a Power Pellet is eaten, the ghosts immediately change their movement patterns, regardless of whether they were in their pursuit or scatter modes. There are four Power Pellets in the maze when Pac-Man eats one, the ghosts turn temporarily blue – signifying that they can be eaten by the hero! This last for just a short time the ghosts start flashing between blue and white to demonstrate that they are about to turn back to their normal, dangerous colours – in later levels, the period of time to get your revenge is so brief as to be almost imperceptible. This is also the area he patrols during scatter mode, making the bottom left Clyde’s Corner! How do you fight back against the ghosts? Though Clyde does chase Pac-Man (in much the same way as Blinky), when he gets within eight spaces of Pac-Man, he starts to retreat into the bottom-left corner of the maze. Poor Clyde – always the outsider! His behaviour reflects this too, cleverly – unlike the others, he just doesn’t seem to have much interest in chasing Pac-Man. Pokey – more commonly known as Clyde – is the one ghost whose name doesn’t rhyme with the others. You know those moments where you get trapped between two ghosts and can’t get away? That’ll usually be Inky and his random behaviour getting you cornered! Who is the orange ghost? During scatter mode, Inky will patrol the lower right corner of the maze. He’ll patrol an area dependent on where Blinky is at any given time – and will become more random the further away from Blinky he is. ![]() ![]() This is a strange one – though unpredictable, Inky’s behaviour is actually linked to the position of the Ghost Gang’s leader, Blinky. The most unpredictable of the four ghosts, Inky is dangerous because you can’t always know exactly what he’s going to do next! What pattern does Inky follow? The cyan ghost’s ‘official’, original English-language name was Bashful, but his nickname – and like the others, the name he’s known by now – is Inky. During scatter mode, Pinky heads for the top left corner and moves in an anti-clockwise, circling motion around the corner walls. Pinky moves around maze walls in an anti-clockwise pattern, but also roughly follows Pac-Man’s movement – targeting four spaces ahead of where the player is headed, which is designed to get out in front of them and cut them off. Like the other ghosts, she has her own, very specific patterns of movement. However, she’s more commonly known by her nickname, Pinky. Oddly – despite Blinky being the ghost known to speed up – the pink ghost’s ‘real’ name is Speedy. He’s a very tough enemy to outrun, especially as he follows Pac-Man closely once he’s on his trail – and doesn’t even cease his relentless pursuit during periods when the other ghosts enter scatter mode. With 20 dots remaining in the first maze, Blinky gets faster – but in subsequent mazes, he speeds up even sooner. Unlike the others, Blinky speeds up as Pac-Man eats more dots in the maze. ![]() Blinky is perhaps the leader of what’s known as the Ghost Gang he’s definitely the most deadly ghost – and almost certainly the most likely to catch our little yellow hero. Who is the red ghost in Pac-Man?Īccording to one of the attract screens on the English language version of the arcade game, the red ghost is named Shadow – and his nickname is Blinky.įor some reason, it’s the nicknames that stuck with the ghosts, so in general, this one is just known as Blinky. They sure do! Considering Pac-Man was originally released in 1980, it may surprise you to learn that each ghost in Pac-Man has their own behaviour and patterns that they follow, as well as behaviour that they adhere to during what’s known as ‘scatter mode’. Hentai can be understood through a variety of means, but is typically characterized by the absence of explicit sexual intercourse. The term was coined in the 1970s as an abbreviation of "hentai seiyoku" (), a phrase meaning "perverse sexual desire." Hentai is not typically associated with animation, as the term specifically refers to sexually explicit characters. Hentai is a Japanese word that describes sexually explicit or pornographic comics and animation. In addition to creating calculus, a discipline of mathematics still practiced today, he studied and published works on universal gravity and the three laws of motion. Sir Isaac Newton (1642–1727) and his studies made a great impact on Enlightenment ideology. It is not possible to isolate the trends of music during this period without briefly looking into what was happening at the time in society. Historical events and advances in science influenced music and the other arts tremendously. The rococo took the extremes of baroque architecture and design to new heights with ornate design work and gold gilding (see figure of a rococo church). The term " Rococo" is sometimes used to describe art from the end of the Baroque period, from the mid to late eighteenth century. The baroque title was then used to describe the style of the era. This definition was adhered to until 1888 when Heinrich Wölfflin coined the word as a stylistic title or designation. In art circles, the term baroque came to be used to describe the bizarre, irregular, grotesque, or anything that departs from the regular or expected. The conflict between the Reformation and Counter-Reformation, and the influence of Greek/Roman culture as opposed to medieval roots are present throughout the Baroque era. The baroque period is a time of extremes resulting from events stemming back to the renaissance. Jewelers use this term even today to describe irregular or imperfectly shaped pearls: a baroque pearl. Another possible origin is from the Portuguese term barrocco, in Spanish barrueco. ![]() Later the term came to denote or bring attention to any contorted idea, obscure thought, or anything different, out of the ordinary, or strange. Philosophers during the Middle Ages used this term to describe an obstacle or veerings from schematic logic. Baroque ultimately is thought to have derived from the Italian word barocco. The term "Baroque" has an interesting and disputed past. You'll encounter more on that when you get to the opera portion of this learning chapter. ![]() The biggest opera stars in 1720 were followed around by paparazzi and gossiped about just as are, say, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Opera in the seventeenth century was the entertainment equivalent of movies today. It's appropriate that we hear Handel and his contemporaries in commercials today considering the Baroque era was essentially the first age in which music became a commercial commodity. In this section, we will add some context and history to these and many other personalities from the Baroque Era. You have almost certainly heard snippets of these composers on TV shows, commercials, or movies. You are probably familiar with such names as Bach, Handel, and Pachelbel, whose Canon is used in many modern weddings. This period includes several composers that we now hear on so-called "classical" music stations. This brief introduction to the Baroque period is intended to provide a short summary of the music and context in the Baroque Era, which lasted from about 1600–1750. Aurally identify selected music of the Baroque, making critical judgments about its style and use. ![]()
![]() Usual case here, cubase user from sx1, religiously updating and did the same with C12 when it was released, excited to see the new features and get stuck in. And I’ll be watching (and maybe contributing, if all goes well) for updates and perspectives.Īctually really bummed out about this. As it stands, I can’t run RX9 nor the latest update of Nuendo on the laptop, which (as you know) officially peaked out on High Sierra… hence the explorations into potential Windows-land. Knowing that Cubase 12 is working on your rigs is making me want to give it a shot! Aside from Cubase/Nuendo, my main concern would be if iZotopeRX works well with the update. But actually getting Catalina on either or both of these machines would be far preferable. I need an IT person or a child to work that one out. I’ve been banging my head against the wall trying to get Bootcamp to install anything on the laptop in hopes of being able to upgrade to Windows 10, but having replaced my CD drive with another SSD, getting it to do what it’s supposed to has been a real challenge. Looks like we’re on the same basic page here, with me a little behind you in the tech specs department- my 5,1 MacPro is built on a 2008 model upgraded to the same specs as yours (but 64gb), and my laptop’s a late 2011 17”, same basic juice but with 16gb. Thank you for your seriously thoughtful, practical and reassuring reply. Hope this helps, we can’t all afford to rush out and buy a new Mac every few years! I’m still using an iPhone 7… Audio wise I use Metric Halo 3D in the studio and Audient ID14 in the writing room (sharing the same Mac via CAT5 converter cables USB and DVI so I can work without putting the heating on in the control room). If I’m unable to afford a new Mini M1 at least I’ve got the Pro running everything I need for now. ![]() I’d say so long as you make a really solid back-up before you patch, go for it. ![]() The only question is whether the fact that I cannot see the MIDI Remote tab or see any devices in it for Cubase 12 is down to the Cat patch? But it’s not the end of the world, I’m sure that’ll be fixable, not bothering raising a ticket right now as I’m sure the guys at Steinberg have their hands full, and anyway they may well turn around and say Catalina isn’t supported. This was the install method where you don’t overwrite all your apps etc, so an upgrade not a clean install.Īs far as I can tell now over a week running Catalina, everything is superb. So then I replaced the original SSD and upgraded that. So with extreme trepidation and caution I cloned the main drive, took it out, replaced it with the clone, and directly installed Catalina onto that drive (this was non-SSD and in fact had errors on it, it was relegated to a back of a back up for emergencies, so I was quite surprised how well it ran!) Everything ran perfectly, all DAWs etc worked really well, again probably smoother overall. The Mac Pro was running Mojave (I’d upgraded the graphics to do that a while back). So this made me wary of trying it with the MacPro in the Studio, until I saw the spec needed for C12. I haven’t stress tested it but it way outperforms the other DAWs, so at least I do have a DAW on the MB, and I also have a partition I can boot into High Sierra if needs be. However, it’s interesting to note that Cubase 11, and then this week 12, runs absolutely fine. This didn’t bother me as I don’t use the Macbook for audio so much, maybe a bit of editing. Crackling audio with anything above a basic few tracks. However, I discovered that when I ran audio apps, Studio One & Mixbus 32C, I got reduced performance. At first I was extremely impressed, everything ran very smoothly, apart from a grey background to the menu bar, as the graphics on this model are not metal compatible. It did and so then I installed onto the main SSD drive of the Macbook (Late 2011, 2.8GhZ dual core i7, 8gb ram). Then, following dosdude’s video to the letter I installed to an external drive first, to be sure it would run. I started with the MacBook which was running High Sierra, made a clone of the hard-drive first. The reason I did the Catalina patch was a/ on my MacBook so I could run Dorico 4 (and by good fortune it seems, C12) and on the studio MacPro 5.1 so that I could run Cubase 12. Here is what I did to calm my worries about messing up my system which was running very well. On the Macbook not so positive but read on. Even though I may yet buy a Mac Mini M1, for portability and future proofing reasons. Hi so firstly I’m very happy with the MacPro running Catalina, and really glad I took the plunge. ![]() "The deputies announced their presence and attempted to explain the nature of the call, but the occupants were uncooperative and refused to comply.
